New Love Language

I’ve prayed for you by the way!” dearie broke the silence later as we drove home.

It hit me hard what those words from him meant. They meant he cared enough to place me in the hands of the one who died for me. The one whom I forever belong to. I hadn’t raised a prayer request, so I was dumbstruck but I felt loved.

It reminded me of how this incredible human from a gathering, pulled me aside one time to follow up on a prayer request I had made. “I saw your prayer request on ‘you version’, and I took it upon myself to pray for you. Did you get your answer?” When you’ve walked with Jesus for a while, you can taste when the good Lord has put a new song in your mouth. And only then can you ask such questions in confidence, for indeed at that time, my prayer had already been answered.

Another darling here held on to a hoodie belonging to her friend. Not because she cared to look good in it or keep herself warm, but because she strongly believed that it would be a perfect reminder to keep praying for him. She made a promise to herself that until the matter was resolved, she would keep the hoodie. As days, weeks, and months passed by, the hoodie bearer gave up asking for it. Verily, I tell you dear reader, “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much”. We serve a God who is faithful and honors our prayers, and big enough to hear our ‘small’ prayers.

Isn’t it amazing how we’ve taken that love language test either as singles or as couples to be able to love others right! We’ve asked our loved ones what their love languages were to help us love them better. It’s all about love, and no one wants to fail in love. But would you pause and reflect on how it felt to know someone prayed for you and with you? When you didn’t know what to do but somehow got through it because someone stood in the gap?

I have learned that there is a level you get, and you know just how to touch God’s heart. It’s the place where you pray for the ones you call friends. The ones you don’t like so much in the office because they are but a pain. The family members you have grown to be strangers over time. The church members that gossip behind your back and harshly judge you. The neighbors who imagine they own the entire parking space and every morning is chaos. It’s the place where you learn that loving people is equal to loving God. It’s the place you understand that God has His love language which is prayer.

Prayer is simply communication with God. And throughout the bible, prayer has been the order of the day. Sometimes it is asking questions, seeking counsel, giving thanks, honoring and praising God, confessing sins, meditating on His goodness, interceding for others, and the list goes on. Whichever way you choose to communicate to God, don’t ever stop. He loves that. When you go the extra mile and do that for others, He loves that even more.

So, therefore; Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well (3 John 1:2). I pray that out of His glorious riches, He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being. (Ephesians 3:16). For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives (Colossians 1:9)

Feel loved!

  4. Beautiful. It’s amazing how the revelation of Christ in your life breaks down all walls that you find yourself praying for that relative who did you wrong, that stranger who crossed you, and that guy down the street hustling for his meagre business even if they don’t know you. His love turns your heart jelly and tender in the most unexpected ways and that results to wanting more of him which translates to prayer. Truly, his love language is Prayer.
